Stevenage community contacts: local support, groups and places to meet

Find starting points for community support, activities, sport and venue hire across Stevenage’s neighbourhoods.

Start with the organisation that fits your enquiry

Stevenage Community Trust is a local charity with information about help, fundraising and ways to support the community. Its own team can explain current arrangements and eligibility. Use its published contact route to describe what you need or how you would like to contribute.

For official local services, Stevenage Borough Council and Hertfordshire County Council provide separate sources of information. Follow the relevant service’s own instructions rather than assuming a community venue can handle every enquiry. Avoid including personal or sensitive details in a public directory submission.

Find a nearby place to meet

The Oval Community Centre is on Vardon Road, Hampson Park Community Centre is off Webb Rise, and Great Ashby Community Centre is on Whitehorse Lane. These are separate venues with different rooms, activities and booking arrangements. Choose the location that suits your group and how people will travel.

For room hire, explain the activity, numbers and preferred date, then ask about access, equipment, catering and the full hire conditions. For a class or group, check membership, ages and whether newcomers should book or contact the organiser first.

Take part in local sport

Stevenage Cricket Club is based on Ditchmore Lane, with team and club information on its own website. Stevenage FC Foundation runs community participation programmes for different ages and needs, with its published contact base on Broadhall Way.

Ask about the particular session or team you are interested in. The age group, experience level, equipment and registration arrangements can differ, and a general club address does not tell you when every activity takes place. Contact the organiser about accessibility or individual requirements before attending.

Offer useful local help

Volunteering can involve time, a particular skill or occasional practical support. Ask an organisation what it currently needs and whether a role involves training, references or other checks. A clear offer is easier for a small local team to match to useful work.

Businesses can also contribute through services, materials or space. Agree the practical details before collecting goods or announcing support. An accurate community profile with a current website and phone number helps people make that first conversation and find the correct organisation.
